Nissii Christian Academy project

NISII Christian Academy is an integrated community-based development project registered with the Ministry of education Science and Technology. Kenya Government. It is along Lake Victoria, South of Equator in Western Region, working for sustainability in all fields of life such as economy, education, social and health services and agriculture.

The Academy was founded in 2004 to promote educational objectives and related services with a view of creating hope and inspirations to orphans and vulnerable children from the local community and intermediate neighborhoods of Kisui Village, Kasgunga Central, Gembe Location, Mbita, where HIV/AIDS prevalence rate is 30% per cent, one of the highest regions in Kenya affected by the epidemic and of resent insecurity has also become a big challenge. Kisui village has a population of over 7000 people. Most of them are illiterate. Their main source of income is derived from Lake Victoria through fishing activities. The fishing incomes are supplemented with charcoal burning that has wreaked havoc on the environment and subsistence farming. Nissii Christian Academy is both non-political and non- profit making organization.

NISII Christian Academy bridges the socio-economic gap by providing holistic education and providing a home like atmosphere to the children by offering other basic needs which Include, food, clothing, shelter, medical and social care. At the moment the school has an enrollment of 162 pupils ranging from Pre-School to Primary Grade 5. There is high demand for our education attributed to our holistic style of teaching. Our curriculum is adjusted to incorporate practical and talent building programs which include art-work (drawing, weaving, knitting, dressmaking /tailoring, basketry, cookery, agriculture) and sporting activities (football, athletics and music).
